The Material Library
Everything begins with the material.
Six families, chosen slab by slab and board by board. Every commission is drawn from this palette.

Wood
Air-dried, quarter-sawn and finished by hand. Timber is the spine of every Artisian piece.
Teak
Dense, oily and weather-honest. Our first choice for balconies and wet rooms.
Oak
Open-grained and calm. Takes a soap or oil finish beautifully.
Walnut
Chocolate heartwood with a violet cast under warm light.
Ash
Pale, springy and strong — used where a frame must stay slender.
Veneer
Book-matched 0.6mm leaves over stable cores for large door faces.
Engineered Wood
Moisture-graded carcass board for kitchens and wardrobes.

Stone
Slabs selected at the yard, then laid out so the vein runs through the whole room.
Italian Marble
Statuario, Calacatta and Bianco — cool white with graphite movement.
Indian Marble
Makrana and Ambaji, warmer and remarkably hard-wearing.
Granite
For work surfaces that take heat, acid and years without complaint.
Quartz
Engineered, non-porous, seamless over long island runs.

Glass
Low-iron throughout, so the edge reads clear rather than green.
Clear
Low-iron float for display joinery and shower screens.
Frosted
Acid-etched both faces — light passes, detail does not.
Fluted
Vertical reeding that softens whatever sits behind it.
Tinted
Bronze and smoke tones for wardrobe fronts and cabinet doors.

Metal
Metal is used sparingly — where the hand lands, and where a line must hold.
Brass
Unlacquered, so it darkens where it is touched.
Stainless Steel
Brushed 304 for kitchen and wet-area hardware.
Black Metal
Powder-coated mild steel, matte and quiet.
Aluminium
Anodised profiles for sliders, tracks and slim frames.

Fabric
Woven for a long life indoors — tested to 40,000 rubs and beyond.
Linen
Belgian flax, washed soft, creases welcome.
Velvet
Short-pile cotton velvet that catches lamplight.
Leather
Full-grain aniline hides, vegetable tanned.
Premium Fabric
Performance bouclés and wool blends for family rooms.

Finishes
The last two microns decide how a room feels. We finish in our own booth.
Matte
5–10 gloss units. Absorbs light, hides fingerprints.
Gloss
60 gloss units, buffed — used on small, deliberate surfaces.
Textured
Wire-brushed and stone-blast textures with real relief.
High Gloss
Polyurethane, sanded to 3000 grit and polished mirror-flat.
Natural Finish
Hard-wax oil only — the timber stays open and repairable.
